After a year, looking back at last year's OKR goals, I accomplished some and had many that were just flags. Tomorrow I'm going home, the last day at school, quiet but calm. So, following last year's example, I'll do a shallow annual summary!
summary#
The meaning of the New Year lies in the fact that we artificially divide the continuous linear time, giving us the opportunity to stop and reflect on the gains and losses of the past year and outline a blueprint for the coming year.
Looking back at the 23rd year, the summary is rushed and regretful, time flies by quickly.
The following content is a review of last year's OKRs one by one.
O1 Academic#
23-KR1: Publish a paper#
OK, this goal failed. I was rejected four times in the 23rd year, and it really frustrated me. So, before the new year, I submitted two more papers. This time, I lowered the threshold, so there should be a chance. I hope to receive acceptance notifications in February or March.
23-KR2: Graduation topic#
I didn't listen to Shabi's advice. Maybe if I listened to him, he would help me graduate? That's impossible. The more I get to know him, the more I realize certain things. With his style, even if I really fail, he won't lend a helping hand. So, I have to rely on myself. I found my graduation topic on my own. After going around in circles, I ended up choosing the topic I initially selected in my first year of graduate school. I completed it successfully, fulfilling a research dream of mine and resolving a personal issue.
23-KR3: Relationship with advisor#
Hahaha, I can only say that I've given up any expectations for this person.
He's really a jerk. If I were to say certain things about him, he could be exposed on the internet. It doesn't matter, I don't care about him.
23-KR1: Graduate successfully#
This may be the last year related to academic matters. My biggest wish for the 24th year is to graduate successfully!
I won't celebrate the New Year this year, but I'll celebrate it next year! Even at home, I'll force myself to write papers whenever I have free time. I'll stay at home for two weeks and then return to school, tentatively on the 18th.
First draft by the end of March, submit for review in mid-April, defend in May. After the defense, I'll be free as a bird. To be precise, I'll be free once the external review is approved. There are about sixty days left, so don't waste time, buddy. 😥
O2 Employment#
23-KR1: Find an internship after the New Year (1-5)#

Although I'm still inexperienced, I really have to praise myself. Hard work always pays off.
I found a great internship this year, working in front-end development at Ant Financial from April to August. I learned a lot and my competitiveness in job hunting for the autumn recruitment season also improved significantly.
23-KR2: Find a summer internship, prepare for civil service exams (4-8)#
OK, I didn't prepare for the civil service exams all at once, and I didn't take any of them. Hahaha
I guess I'm not cut out for it. Maybe I was more attracted to the idea of being a civil servant because I heard it was good, but I haven't had any exposure to it and I'm not that interested. Plus, my major doesn't align with many positions, so I decided to forget about it.
KR3: Find a job (9-12)#
Successfully completed 🍟🍟
I found quite a few job opportunities during the autumn recruitment season. This may be the most fulfilling thing for me~~
Internet companies: Ant Financial, Baidu, Ele.me, Youku, Huawei, Dewu, USTC, Zuoyebang, Hikvision, Xiaomi. Among them, 4 are SP and 1 is SSP.
I also received offers from several state-owned enterprises, but I won't mention their names.
In the end, I will probably go to a financial state-owned enterprise in Shenzhen.
This is how I think about it:
- Compared to the high salary in the internet industry, I may value stability more. Technology is not my strong suit, and I don't have a deep pursuit of it. It's more of a means of making a living. What I really want is to explore myself and have a fulfilling life.
- In terms of work intensity, this state-owned enterprise should be much lower than the internet industry, not only in terms of fixed working hours, but also in terms of the tight schedule for demands. There's an overall sense of anxiety in the internet industry.
- In terms of salary, the starting salary for this state-owned enterprise is 200,000 yuan, while the starting salary in the internet industry is 300,000 yuan. In terms of salary growth, after 3 years, the state-owned enterprise's salary will reach 300,000 yuan, and the internet industry's salary will be around 400,000 yuan. Well, how should I put it, there's no point in comparing salaries with the internet industry. You can't have everything, especially when compared to my classmates who majored in computer science, whose starting salaries are around 500,000 to 600,000 yuan. Haha, in this regard, I'll just keep a calm mindset and go with the flow. It's enough as long as it's sufficient.
O3 Consumption#
Last year, I said, "I don't have much money right now, which means I can experience great emotional value through small losses. Even if I can't benefit or even lose money, it's still a form of learning."
The biggest lesson I learned this year is, don't expect to make money beyond your own understanding.
